The Colorado Golf Association is a volunteer-based organization that provides services to individual members, member clubs, and member golf facilities in Colorado. We currently are seeking volunteers that are interested in serving as on course rules officials as well as youth tournament administration. Additionally, there are numerous committees of the CGA on which volunteers can serve. Our volunteers play a significant role in allowing the association to provide the activities that are organized and conducted, and many of the volunteers serve out of a desire to give something back to the game of golf.

The Colorado Golf Association conducts all its qualifiers and championships with the help of dedicated volunteer Rules Officials from around the state. Without Rules Officials, the CGA tournament schedule would not hold up to the standard that tournament players have come to expect from a CGA sanctioned event. The volunteer base is the lifeblood of the tournament program and is made possible by enthusiastic volunteers who are looking to contribute to golf in Colorado.

Rules officiating is a fantastic way to get involved with tournament golf in Colorado. The CGA hosts 12 championships a year and select qualifiers for our four Major Championships. The CGA is also tasked with administering national qualifiers for USGA Championships, which are open to the top amateur and professional golfers from around the country.

The CGA Rules Officiating team is made up of individuals across the state that have a passion for golf. If you have ever been interested in helping administer events for the best golfers in the state, feel free to join our team. Volunteers will usually bring with them a golf background as a player or admirer of the game. Tournament knowledge or Rules of Golf knowledge is always a plus, and you will certainly learn more as you progress in our volunteer program.

Start getting involved by attending our annual two-day Rules of Golf Workshop at the February Denver Golf Expo or one of our Rules of Golf seminars around Colorado. We also have classes available for specific Rules Officiating procedures. These classes are more focused on the bed-side manner and best practices as a Rules Official rather than the Rules of Golf.

If you are interested in being a part of the CGA Rules Officiating team, contact Robert Duke at rduke@coloradogolf.org or 303-974-2107.
