Phyllis was born in Boston, Massachusetts and is the oldest of six children. She came to Colorado in 1967 to attend the University of Denver where she graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. After teaching for a few years, she returned to D.U. and in 1975 earned a Master’s Degree in Physical Education. Still not finished with her formal education, Phyllis attended the University of Northern Colorado and in 1985 earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education. She continued teaching in the Denver Public Schools for 32 years and in 2002 retired from full time teaching. Still needing a “kid fix”, she worked part time at another elementary school in Denver as a technology resource person and finally retired in 2011.
The love of golf began when Phyllis was ten years old and her Dad bought her first set of golf clubs and lessons. Phyllis has had a passion for the game ever since! In 2010, she had major back surgery which has limited her golf game to just chipping and putting. In order to fuel her passion for golf, Phyllis has become more active in committee work. She had the privilege of serving three years on the Board of Trustees for the Colorado State Senior WGA and is currently serving on the CWGA Board of Directors as the Site Location Chair. Phyllis is looking forward to working with this talented group of women to ensure positive golf experiences for all our members.
Phyllis married her husband, Stan, in 1994. Stan is an avid golfer and hunter. They have had the opportunity to take many golf trips together and see some truly beautiful scenery. When she is not involved in golf related activities, Phyllis enjoys reading, playing bridge and being outdoors.
