Jim was born in LaGrande, Oregon but raised in Grand Junction. Although exposed to golf at an early age, he participated in all sports, with a special focus on baseball. He was a member of the NJCAA baseball world series committee from 1982-2000. The tournament has been held in Grand Junction since 1952. Jim has played competitive golf for our 30 years, and has won multiple titles including the Club Championship at Bookcliff Country Club and Dalton Ranch Golf Club in Durango. His professional background is in sales and marketing. He was sales manager for American Bag Corp in Grand Junction prior to moving with his family to Durango in 2000. He and his wife Cathy (Durango native) moved to Durango to assist her brother in the operations of the family business, Colorado Land Title (CLT). CLT has offices in Durango, Cortez, Pagosa Springs and Montrose. As a University of Colorado alumnus, Jim is a huge C.U. Buff fan. Both of his children, Brian ('87) and Kimbery ('90) attended C.U.
