Coloradans Lanting, Gibbs advance to weekend at national Assistant PGA Professional Championship

Two members of the Colorado PGA survived the 36-hole cut at the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Ben Lanting (left) of Bear Creek Golf Club, the Section's 2018 Associate Player of the Year, and Jordan Gibbs of Denver Country Club will be sticking around for the weekend after the top 70 players out of the 132-person field made the 36-hole cut.

Lanting, winner of the Colorado PGA Assistants Championship at the end of July, shot a 2-over-par 74, leaving him at 1-over 145, in 25th place and nine strokes behind leader Steven Delmar of Rockville, Md. Lanting made three birdies, two bogeys and triple bogeyed the 18th hole on Friday at PGA Golf Club's Wanamaker Course.

Also advancing to the weekend was Jordan Gibbs of Denver Country Club, who carded a 77 on Friday and shares 51st place at 148. Gibbs recorded three birdies, four bogeys and two double bogeys on Friday.
