Kristine Franklin emerged as the champion at the 20th CGA Women’s Senior Match Play Championship held at Kings Deer Golf Club. The event was filled with intense competition as players battled for the trophy. The championship featured four pods in the Championship Flight and two pods in the First Flight Net Match Play. Below is a detailed look at the results and the players advancing to the next stage.

Final Day

Kristine Franklin (Ranch Country Club LGA) clinched her title at the 20th CGA Women’s Senior Match Play Championship, winning the match 3&2. Franklin, a three-time champion of this tournament, expressed her love for the pod play portion of the event and praised the excellent condition of the course. She credited her impressive performance to the support of her caddie, who is also her husband. She called him her “secret weapon”.

Leigh Klasse, a well-known senior amateur player, traveled from out of state and put up an impressive fight in the tournament. Despite being 5 down at one point, she battled back valiantly to finish as the runner-up.

Net Match Play Championship Results

Sandra Young emerged victorious in the Net Match Play Championship with a 7&6 win against Darlene Evans. Young highlighted that her favorite aspect of the tournament was the intense focus required for each shot, which she felt improved her game.

The finals are set for tomorrow morning with Leigh Klasse vs. Kristine Franklin for the championship flight. In our first flight net match play final round Sandra Young will face Darlene Evans.

The Women’s Senior Player of the Year for the past two years (2022 & 2023) played with precision and confidence, securing her place in the semi-finals.

Pod 3: Kristine Franklin, Ranch Country Club LGA (3.00 Points) Kristine Franklin, a two-time champion (2019 & 2020) and the Women’s Senior Player of the Year from 2018 to 2021, continued her dominance by winning all her matches in Pod 3. With 3 points, she confidently moved on to the semi-finals.

Pod 4: Leigh Klasse, Metro Denver e-Club (3.00 Points) Leigh Klasse completed the group of top performers, winning all her matches in Pod 4 to secure 3 points. Her consistent play and determination earned her a spot in the semi-finals.

First Flight Net Match Play Pod Winners

First Flight Pod 1: Darlene Evans, West Woods WGA-18 (2.00 Points) Darlene won her pod after a single playoff hole against Mariko Coplin, Foothills LGA-18. Her excellent net play and strategic approach allowed her to advance.

First Flight Pod 2: Sandra Young, Eisenhower WGA-18 (3.00 Points) Sandra Young dominated First Flight Pod 2, finishing with 3 points. Her consistent performance ensured her place in the final stage of the Net Championship.
