The 2022 Western Colorado Golf Foundation Cup Matches took place at Tiara Rado GC in Grand Junction, CO on Saturday, October 29, 2022. This annual event features a Ryder Cup format with 8 amateur golfers representing the CGA competing against 8 professional golfers representing the Colorado Section of the PGA. Each player competes in a 9-hole Fourball match, Foursomes match, and singles match, earning one point per match.
This year, the amateurs took home the Cup, winning 11.5 to 4.5 (full results below). At the inception of this event, the professionals won the Cup the first ten times. Sixteen years later, the amateurs tied it up and for the first time in its 26-year history, the overall standing of the Western Colorado Golf Foundation Cup Matches is tied at 13 (Pros) – 13 (Ams). The captain of the professional team this year was Max Twarjan. The captain of the amateur team and chairman of the event was Frank Wilkinson.
