Coloradans Tyler Long and Hadley Ashton place in top 15 at IMG Junior Worlds; Hunter Swanson 22nd with 1 day left in boys 15-18 tourney

Tyler Long of Evergreen and Hadley Ashton of Erie posted top-15 finishes on Thursday at the prestigious IMG Academy Junior World Championships in San Diego, while Hunter Swanson of Denver remained in the top 25 in the boys 15-18 division, which will conclude on Friday.
Long tied for 12th place out of a field of 170 in the boys 13-14 competition. He closed with a 1-over-par 73, leaving him at 4-over 220 and 11 strokes behind winner Javier Santolaya of Chile.
Ashton shared 15th place out of 100 competitors in the girls 13-14 tournament. A 4-over-par 76 on Thursday — with a double bogey on her final hole — gave her an 8-over 224 total. She ended up nine strokes behind the top three performers.
And Swanson easily made the 54-hole to the low 50 players and ties — out of the original field of 207 — in the oldest boys age division. The 2020 Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado Boys Player of the Year posted a 6-over-par 77 Thursday at Torrey Pines South, host site for last month’s U.S. Open. That put the future University of Colorado golfer in 22nd place at 8-over 221, 12 strokes behind leader Gavin Aurilia of Phoenix.
The boys and girls 15-18 divisions will wrap up the Junior Worlds on Friday.
