Pair of 66s gives Micah Rudosky 3-stroke victory in Colorado Senior PGA Professional Championship
By Gary Baines – 8/3/2021
Micah Rudosky of Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez has certainly proven a force with which to be reckoned in senior tournament golf.
Last year, he finished third in his Colorado Senior PGA Professional Championship debut. He went on to place 11th out of 264 players at the national Senior PGA Professional Championship and qualified for the 2021 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, a senior major.
Then this week, in his second Colorado Senior PGA, Rudosky claimed a three-stroke victory at The Ranch Country Club in Westminster.
The 50-year-old shot his second consecutive 5-under-par 66 on Tuesday and posted a 36-hole total of 10-under 132. That was good for a three-stroke victory over Doug Rohrbaugh of The Snowmass Club and Life Member Ron Vlosich of Lakewood.
Rohrbaugh, a two-time winner of this event (2012 and ’13), also finished second last year. Vlosich, a Colorado Golf Hall of Famer, claimed the title in 2017. Both closed with 66s. Barry Milstead of Valley Country Club placed fourth at 136 after posting a 70 on Tuesday.
The top eight finishers on Tuesday qualify for the Senior PGA Professional Championship, set for Oct. 21-24 in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Joining the aforementioned four in advancing were Chris Johnson of Country Club at Woodmoor (139), Kirk Rider of Bear Creek Golf Club (139), Patrick Reidy of The Club at Inverness (139) and Peter Mogg of Roaring Fork Club (140).
