The annual Club Team Championship took place at Hiwan Golf Club in Evergreen, CO, where ladies’ golf clubs from across the state gathered to compete for the coveted title of Club Team Champions. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, the tournament featured an ABCD Team Stroke Play format, where the gross score of all four team members was combined to determine the overall team score.
In true Colorado fashion, the tournament began with a frosty October morning, resulting in a brief frost delay before play could begin. Despite the chilly start, the sun soon rose, and the fast greens of Hiwan posed a challenge for even the most experienced players. As if the course wasn’t tough enough, herds of local elk added an unexpected obstacle, with some golf balls landing among the napping wildlife, creating a memorable and unique hazard for competitors.
After a full day of exciting and challenging play, Jocelyn Thompson, Robin Thorsen, Kim DeRuyter, Maria Gehring from Colorado Golf Club emerged victorious, claiming the title of Club Team Champions. Their combined skill and perseverance allowed them to navigate the course and outperform the strong field of competitors.
