Coloradan Davis Bryant remains in top 10 — and on pace to earn a DP World Tour card — going into last day of final stage of Q-school

By Gary Baines – 11/12/2024

Only 20 holes of golf separate Coloradan Davis Bryant from possibly being the proud owner of an exempt spot on the 2024-25 DP World Tour.

After just shy of five rounds — play was suspended for the day Tuesday afternoon in Spain due to lightning— the former Colorado State University golfer is well on pace to finish in the top 20 and ties at the final stage of the Europe-based tour. If he remains in the top 20 after Wednesday’s sixth round, he’ll earn a card for one of the top golf tours in the world.

(Nov. 13 Update: Due to weather issues, the last day of play at the final stage of qualifying for the DP World Tour was moved to Thursday.)

Bryant, the 2019 CGA Player of the Year who won both the Inspirato Colorado Open and the Wyoming State Open this year, shares seventh place — out of an original field of 156 — going into the final day of DP World Tour Q-school in Tarragona, Spain. He stands at 17 under par for the tournament — 2 under through 16 holes on Tuesday after previously posting scores of 69-67-69-66. Through the first five days, he’s carded 26 birdies and nine bogeys.

Bryant trails final stage leader Edoardo Molinari by seven strokes heading into the final day. As of Tuesday night, the players at 14 under par would be in the final spots in line to earn DP World Tour cards.

It should be noted that even if Bryant does earn a DP World Tour card, he’s still in the running for a PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour spot for 2025. He’s scheduled to compete in the second stage of PGA Tour Q-school Dec. 3-6 in Valencia, Calif. And if he’s successful there, he’ll advance to the final stage — Dec. 12-15 in Ponte Vedra, Fla. — where five PGA Tour cards (plus ties) will be up for grabs, with the next 40 finishers and ties earning some exempt status on the Korn Ferry Tour, and the remaining players landing conditional status on the KFT.

Meanwhile, Bryant isn’t the only player with significant Colorado ties still with a chance to earn a DP World Tour card in Spain. Kent Denver graduate Gunner Wiebe (72-68-68-70-68) and Dan Erickson (64-71-74-68-69), whose family lives in northern Colorado, sit at 11 under par and share 33rd place at final stage. They’ll aim to move into the top 20 on the final day. Wiebe has been a regular on the DP World Tour for the last two years, but lost his card this year.

The 2024-25 DP World Tour season begins Nov. 21 at the BMW Australian PGA Championship.
