Hancock’s 69 leads scoring for Colorado contingent at national Senior PGA Professional Championship

Three of the eight Coloradans competing in the national Senior PGA Professional Championship opened with rounds of par or better on Thursday in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Bill Hancock of Littleton Golf and Tennis Club shot a 2-under-par 69 at PGA Golf Club’s Ryder Course to share 16th place in the 264-person field. The 54-year-old from Highlands Ranch made four birdie and two bogeys in round 1 of the 72-hole event.

Micah Rudosky of Conquistador Golf Course posted a 1-under 71 at the Wanamaker Course to stand in 27th place. He carded three birdies and two bogeys.

And former Colorado Open champion Mike Zaremba of Desert Hawk at Pueblo West recorded an even-par 71 at the Ryder Course, making three birdies and three bogeys.

Dick Mast of Forest, Va., leads after firing a 6-under 65 on the Ryder Course on Thursday.

The top 35 finishers on Sunday will earn spots in the 2021 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

The field will be cut to the low 90 players and ties after Friday, and to the low 70 players and ties after Saturday.
