City Park GC hosts Colorado Junior Match Play in another busy week for the state’s top young golfers

The Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado major championships have come fast and furious in 2021.
The first one didn’t start until June 28, but now the third one in a month will be held. Denver’s City Park Golf Course, which reopened less than a year ago after being redesigned, will host the affair Monday through Wednesday.
Boys and girls round-of-32 matches are set for Monday, the rounds of 16 and the quarterfinals for Tuesday and the semifinals and finals for Wednesday.
As was the case with the Colorado Junior Amateur earlier this month, national, international and regional tournaments will draw away some of Colorado’s best next week, with the boys Junior America’s Cup set for Wyoming, the national Girls Junior PGA for Kentucky, the AJGA Colorado Springs Junior by Centura Health for The Club at Flying Horse in Colorado Springs, and the Optimist Junior Golf Championships in Florida.
With that, the top seed among the 32 boys will be Nic Pevny of Aspen, the 2020 3A boys state high school individual champion and Colorado Junior Amateur runner-up, with Grant Juergens of Centennial No. 2 and Ben Harding of Longmont No. 3. Also in the field is future Colorado State University golfer Jordan Jennings of Montrose.
On the girls side, defending champion Morgan Miller of Cedar Park, Texas is seeded No. 1, with Grace Young of Highlands Ranch No. 2 and Ashleigh Wilson of Highlands Ranch No. 3. Some of the players in the girls field might have tournament experience at City Park from the 5A girls state high school tournament that was held there last month.
