Strong field assembled for CGA Super-Senior Match Play at Legacy Ridge

By Gary Baines – 9/21/2020

Legacy Ridge Golf Course seems like CGA Championship Central for the late summer of 2020.

When the Westminster course hosts the CGA Super-Senior Match Play Tuesday through Thursday, it will mark the third association championship held at Legacy Ridge in a month and a half. The CGA Women’s Brassie and the CGA Four-Ball were contested there last month.

In the case of the Super-Senior Match Play, Legacy stepped up after the original site begged off due to Covid-19-related health and safety concerns.

The SS Match Play is limited to contestants 64 and older, with the field comprised of 32 golfers.

Sean Forey from The Club at Rolling Hills will try to defend his title as the No. 1 seed. David Nelson of Columbine Country Club, who moved to Colorado this year, will attempt to sweep the CGA super-senior majors in 2020 after winning the Super-Senior Amateur at Gypsum Creek.

Other recent winners of the Super-Senior Match Play in the field include Colorado Golf Hall of Famer Kent Moore of Cherry Hills Country Club (2017) and Jeffrey English of CommonGround Golf Course (2016).

Among the other entrants are three-time CGA Senior Player of the Year Robert Polk of Colorado Golf Club, 2019 U.S. Senior Open qualifier Robin Bradbury of Omni Interlocken Resort and two-time U.S. Senior Amateur qualifier Gary Albrecht of CommonGround.
