Breaking new ground

Green Valley Ranch Golf Club will soon become the first public course in Colorado to install TrackMan Range technology

By Gary Baines – 2/22/2023

Owning a TrackMan — or at least having access to one — is the norm for most top-level tour players these days. Many college golf programs have used the technology for years.

And anyone who has watched high-level tour golf on TV in recent years no doubt has heard the broadcasters making note of a given player’s ball speed or the like. And that just skims the surface of the shot data a TrackMan can provide.

But it’s safe to say that TrackMan golf-ball-tracking monitors are rare at public golf courses — at least at this point. Indeed, the TrackMan.com website indicates that no public-access courses in Colorado currently utilize one of the products TrackMan offers, TrackMan Range (though Lakewood Country Club does).

But Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in northeast Denver, home of the Inspirato Colorado Open Championships for most of the 21st century, will soon make that TrackMan Range technology available to customers who use the practice facilities at GVR.

The public-access club (4900 Himalaya Rd.) announced on Wednesday that beginning in mid-April — roughly — TrackMan Range will be in place at 25 hitting stations at the GVR practice area. And there will be no additional fee for using the technology. Those interested just need to download the TrackMan app onto their smart device when on site. Staff will be on hand to assist customers and, if desired, give lessons.

“Our expansive practice facility will soon include TrackMan Range, the most advanced technology in the world,” GVR president Kevin Laura said in a release. “We’re proud to be the first public-access golf facility in Colorado — in fact one of the few in the western U.S. — to offer this exciting (TrackMan Range) technology … that will enhance the experience of every amateur and pro golfer practicing and playing at GVR.”

TrackMan Range also includes access to interactive practice games with its technology.
