CGA Clubs Giving Back

2022 Clubs of the Year honored for their support of golf and community involvement

By: Erin Gangloff

Many CGA men’s and women’s clubs do more than just play golf and run events. Each year the CGA recognizes clubs who go above and beyond to support the game and their communities. In April, the Colorado Golf Association presented the 2022 Men’s and Women’s Club of the Year to Parker Golf Association and CommonGround Women’s Golf Club.

Every year clubs are asked to submit all their achievements for the year to be considered for this award. As the submissions roll in it is incredible to see all the wonderful things that these clubs are doing for not just golf but the community.

Annually, Parker Golf Association hosts the Help and Hope Invitational which raises money for the Help and Hope Center which assists families in serious economic need, at risk for homelessness or similar crisis in Douglas and Elbert County. Additionally, they also teamed up with teachers in the community to identify families who are also struggling and in need. This past year, Parker Golf Association raised over $25,000 which was then given to families facing a variety of needs through Help and Hope Center and area schools.

The CommonGround Women’s Golf Club made it a goal to support women’s golf by promoting the Augural CommonGround Classic Tournament. The CommonGround Classic spotlighted women in golf and raised money for the Metro State Women’s Golf Team and LPGA/USGA Girls Golf Program. Additionally, they supported the Solich Caddie & Leadership Academy at CommonGround by taking caddies and raising money for the program through their Member Guest Tournament.

Congratulations to Parker Golf Association and CommonGround Women’s Golf Club. We look forward to seeing what all clubs and leagues do in 2023!

CGA Club of the Year submissions will open in October. If your club is hosting a charity event, visit the Charity Events page to let us know so the CGA can promote it.
