Nine of the top 10 seeds, including defending champion Harry Johnson of Eagle Ranch Golf Course, made early exits at the CGA Super-Senior Match Play on Wednesday at Willis Case Golf Course in Denver.

Sixteenth-seeded Scott Crone of Pinehurst Country Club ousted Johnson 2 and 1 in Wednesday afternoon’s round of 16 after winning by concession in the opening round of matches. Johnson, who was the top seed, is a two-time CGA Senior Player of the Year.

While second-seeded Sean Forey of The Club at Rolling Hills, the 2018 CGA Super-Senior Player of the Year, won both of his matches on Wednesday, among the not so fortunate were No. 3 Robert Polk of Colorado Golf Club and fourth-seeded Kent Moore of Cherry Hills Country Club.

Dave Bullock of Cherry Hills edged 2017 champ and Colorado Golf Hall of Famer Moore, 1 up, in the round of 32 before falling 4 and 2 to Mark Runyan of Murphy Creek Golf Course.

Charles Delich of Eisenhower Golf Club defeated Polk, a three-time CGA Senior Player of the Year, 2 and 1 in the round of 16.

The final match on Wednesday went 25 holes, with Randy Miller of Boulder Country Club prevailing over Cliff Damato of Meridian Golf Club.

The quarterfinals and the semifinals will be held on Thursday, with the championship match scheduled for Friday morning.

The CGA Super-Senior Match Play is limited to players 63 and older.
