One More Birdie Required

The CGA Four-Ball Championship has officially kicked off the 2023 tournament season. Hosted at Legacy Ridge Golf Course and Todd Creek Golf Course, the full field of participants did not disappoint.

It didn’t take long for two of the teams to shoot 9 under par in the first round. The team comprised of Jordan Jennings (The Bridges Golf & Country Club) and Jay Pabin (Aspen GC Associate Club) shot 4 under par on the front nine and 5 under par on the back nine for a total of 9 under par.  The team of Parker Edens (Northern Colorado E-Club) and Jimmy Makloski (Pueblo Country Club) shot 5 under par on the front nine and 4 under par on the back nine also shooting 9 under par.

After the second round, AJ Morris and Jack Hughes (Aspen GC Associate Club) found themselves tied for first place at 15 under par alongside Jennings/Pabin and Edens/Makloski. As of note, Sean Crowley and Gavin Crowley (Columbine Country Club), having shot a six under par on the first day were able to shoot an impressive 9 under par on the second day to be one back of the leaders.

After round two the field was cut to the top 40 and ties.

The final round was moving day! Jason Browder (The Bridges Golf & Country Club) and Sean Thomas (Indian Tree GC Associate Club) went 10 under par for the day forcing a playoff against Edens and Makloski.  On the second playoff hole, Makloski made a birdie to seal the win for the team.

Makloski and Edens are former CSU Rams players. Edens is the Men’s Head Golf Coach at South Dakota State University and Makloski is the Assistant Men’s Golf Coach at the Air Force Academy.
