Colorado team just misses advancing to PGA Jr. League nationals, falling to 2018 national runner-up in regional competition

With their performance in a regional tournament held over the weekend in West Des Moines, Iowa, Colorado’s representatives narrowly missed advancing to the national PGA Jr. League Championship, which will be held in Scottsdale, Ariz., next month.

The Timm Golf Academy All-Stars of Colorado finished a close second out of four teams at the Region 8 competition held at Glen Oaks Country Club in Iowa. Only the regional winner from Iowa advances to the national event, and the TPC Twin Cities of Minnesota earned the berth. TPC Twin Cities of Minnesota was the national runner-up in 2018.

After winning both its first competitions in the round robin in Iowa, the Timm Golf Academy All-Stars lost to TPC Twin Cities All-Stars 6.5-5.5 in the decisive matchup. TPC Twin Cities finished with 26.5 points for the weekend, while the Time Golf Academy All-Stars chalked up 25.

Earlier, the the TGA All-Stars, all age 13 and under, defeated the Ames/Marshalltown 19 All-Stars 10-2 and the NE Siouxland 19 All-Stars 9.5-2.5.

The roster for the Timm Golf Academy All-Stars included Gavin Amella, Austin Barry, Brayden DeStefano, Andre Dumonteil, Miles Kuhl, Seamus MacPhee, Matai Naqica, Clint Summers III, Roland Thornton and Charlie John Tucker.

Twelve regional PGA Jr. League events are being held in September across the country.

A two-person scramble format is used for PGA Jr. League events.
