Top seeds Klutznick, Jordaan need 1-up wins to advance to semis of Colorado Junior Match Play

Three of the top four seeds on the boys’ side and the top four on the girls’ advanced on Tuesday to the semifinals of the Colorado Junior Match Play at Lake Valley Golf Club in Niwot.

Four boys and four girls won two matches each on Tuesday to earn a spot on the final day of competition, with both the semifinals and title matches scheduled for Wednesday.

Landing spots in the boys semis were top-seeded Jackson Klutznick of Denver, No. 2 Connor Jones of Westminster, No. 4 Maxwell Lange of Golden and No. 14 Lucas Howell of Colorado Springs.

In Wednesday’s semifinals, Klutznick will face Lange and Jones will meet Howell.

Advancing in the girls bracket were No. 1 seed Caroline Jordaan of Greenwood Village, No. 2 Sofia Choi of Littleton, No. 3 Jessica Mason of Westminster and No. 4 Anju Ogi of Arvada.

The semis will feature Jordaan vs. Ogi and Choi vs. Mason.

Both top seeds scored 1-up victories in the quarterfinals.

Klutznick, winner of the 2018 Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado Tour Championship and 3A state boys high school state tournament, held off Jeffrey Zhou of Greenwood Village by halving the final two holes with pars.

Meanwhile, the University of Denver-bound Jordaan edged Timbre Shehee of Mead by halving the 18th holes with a par.
