DU women make it 20 team titles in last 21 league tourneys; CCU men reach 50 under par for 3 rounds in winning RMAC again; CSU Pueblo women complete RMAC 3-peat

By Gary Baines – 4/22/2025

Colorado college golf programs produced three team titles within an hour of one another on Tuesday — and a couple of individual championships to boot.

That not only doesn’t happen every day, it’s not even a once-a-season feat, on average.

Chalking up conference team victories on Tuesday afternoon were the University of Denver women (Summit League), the Colorado Christian University men (Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) and the CSU Pueblo women (RMAC). Tuesday’s victories give those teams automatic NCAA regional berths — the DU women in Division I and the CCU men and the CSU Pueblo women in DII.

Claiming individual conference wins were DU senior Clara Gestsdottir (Summit League) and CCU graduate student Sangha Park (RMAC).

Here are the tournament rundown:

— Summit League Women: The DU women not only claimed their first team title of the season, but they extended their remarkable streak of dominance in league meets. Specifically, with their Summit League victory Tuesday in Mesa, Ariz., the Pioneers have won a league title for the 20th time in the last 21 occasions the tournaments have been contested. And it was Summit League championship No. 6 in a row for DU.

This time around, the Pioneers finished at 7 over par for three rounds, 19 strokes ahead of runner-up South Dakota State.

Individually, Gestsdottir successfully defended her Summit League title. The native of Iceland went 70-72-67 for a 4-under-par total after making an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys in the final round. Joining her in the top 5 for DU were two Coloradans — senior Emma Bryant (third place, 3 over par) and freshman Logan Hale (fifth place, 4 over).

Before the league championships began, Bryant, Gestsdottir and Haven Ward from DU were named to the Summit League women’s golf first team.

On Wednesday, DU will find out where it will play its NCAA regional tournament.

— Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men: The defending NCAA Division II national champions from Colorado Christian claimed their second straight RMAC team title on Tuesday in Boulder City, Nev., while Colorado-based teams claimed the top five spots on the scoreboard.

CCU now owns nine team championships in 10 tournaments this season, with the lone non-victory coming against an NCAA DI field where the Cougars placed second.

This week, CCU compiled a remarkable three-day team total — 50 under par — and pulled away for a 24-stroke victory. CSU Pueblo placed second (26 under), Colorado Mesa third (18 under), and Colorado School of Mines fourth and Fort Lewis tied for fourth (17 under).

CCU’s Park posted his second individual victory of the season — and he did it in emphatic fashion. The South Korean shot a bogey-free 10-under-par 62 in Monday’s round 2 — making an eagle and eight birdies in the process — and ended up 17 under overall for a three-stroke victory over teammate Sungyeop Cho. Jordan Jennings of Montrose and Fort Lewis and Thomas Craig of CSU Pueblo (both 10 under) were third.

CCU players have won or shared 10 individual championships this season — Adam Duncan (four), Xavier Bighaus (two), Cho (two) and Park (two).

— Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women: CSU Pueblo won its third consecutive RMAC title, but had to rally on the final day for the victory this time around. The Thunderwolves overcame Colorado Christian to win by three on Tuesday in Boulder City, Nev. Westminster in Utah tied CCU for runner-up.

Though players from Westminster claimed the top two spots (winner Ashley Lam and Kyra Sponenburgh, three golfers from Colorado programs rounded out the top five individually. Colorado Mesa freshman Hunter Gledhill placed third at even par overall, while CSU Pueblo graduate student Alyssa McMillen was fourth (2 over) and

Colorado Christian junior Makenna Brown fifth (3 over).
