Coloradan Jessica Mason, a first-team women’s NCAA DIII All-American, helps her Pomona-Pitzer team place 7th in national tourney

Jessica Mason’s freshman season of college golf came to an end on Friday — and a memorable season it was.
It culminated this week with Mason being named one of nine first-team NCAA Division III All-Americans by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.
Then on Friday, Mason led her Pomona-Pitzer (Claremont, Calif.) squad to a seventh-place team finish in the women’s NCAA DIII national championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. Individually, Mason placed 25th out of 151 players.
In a tournament reduced to 54 holes when Thursday’s round 3 was canceled — after more than half the field had completed play, due to a “too-severe” hole placement on hole 6 — Mason posted scores of 81-78-79 to end up at 19 over par.
In her first season of college golf, Mason recorded nine top-10 individual finishes in 11 tournaments. She won three times and was runner-up twice.
Mason, a graduate of Holy Family High School, won the Colorado Junior PGA Championship and the 4A girls state high school title in 2021. Last summer, she scored a big victory at the Women’s Western Junior.
