By Gary Baines – 10/23/2021
Becca Huffer of Monument made headway on Saturday in her quest to return to the LPGA Q-Series, the final stage of LPGA Tour qualifying.
The former CGA Women’s Player of the Year shot a 2-under-par 70 in stage II of LPGA Q-school in Venice, Fla., moving up to 46th place in the 179-golfer field.
The top 45 finishers and ties after Sunday’s final round will advance to the LPGA Q-Series, set for Nov. 26-29 and Dec. 9-12 in Alabama. The Q-Series is how Huffer qualified late in 2018 for the LPGA Tour.
Huffer, winner of two CoBank Colorado Women’s Open titles, carded three birdies and one bogey on Saturday in route to her 70. She sits at 1-under 215 going into Sunday’s final round, 12 back of leader Ruoning Yin.
Here are the round-by-round scores for the competitors with strong Colorado ties:
46. Becca Huffer of Monument 71-74-70–215
96. Former CU golfer Kirsty Hodgkins 76-73-71–220
106. Former CU golfer Brittany Fan 76-71-74–221
