Players with strong Colorado connections continue to post good finishes on Arizona-based mini-tours that are some of the few significant professional tournaments being held during the thick of the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S.

On Wednesday, for instance, Nick Mason of Parker recorded his third top-10 finish in the last month on the Outlaw Tour as he tied for  fifth place out of 62 players at the Arrowhead Classic in Glendale, Ariz. Also recording top-10s in the event were twin brothers Yannik and Jeremy Paul, both former University of Colorado golfers. Yannik Paul finished fourth on Wednesday, while Jeremy was seventh. Meanwhile, also on Wednesday but at a Cactus Tour event in Sun City, Ariz., former Coloradan Elizabeth Wang and former Colorado State University golfer Ellen Secor tied for seventh place out of a field of 22. (SCORES)

At the Outlaw Tour event, Mason was attempting to go a month on the circuit (three tournaments) without shooting any score higher than 68. Prior to Wednesday, he had carded rounds of 60 and 62 in that stretch, and had averaged 65.5 in his previous eight Outlaw rounds. Alas the streak ended on Wednesday as the 2014 U.S. Open contestant posted a 2-over-par 72 — with two double bogeys — to finish at 8-under-par 202, six strokes behind champion and one-time PGA Tour winner Alex Cejka.

As for the Paul twins, Yannik went 67-68-66 for a 9-under 201 total, while Jeremy checked in at 203 (69-69-65).

On the Cactus Tour, Wang and Secor matched 6-over-par 222 totals, ending up nine strokes back of champion Sophia Popov of Germany. Wang went 76-78-68, while Secor posted scores of 72-72-76.
