Littleton’s Jim Knous notches third top-5 finish on the Korn Ferry Tour; Kyle Westmoreland, Espen Kofstad earn top-10s elsewhere

By Gary Baines 6/27/2021

Jim Knous of Littleton recorded his first top-five finish on the Korn Ferry Tour since 2018 — and the third of his career — on Sunday as he tied for fifth at the Live and Work in Maine Open in Falmouth.

The former Colorado School of Mines golfer, who also is playing on a medical extension on the PGA Tour, shot rounds of 64-69-68-70 for a 13-under-par 271 total, which left him three strokes behind champion Chad Ramey.

For the tournament, Knous finished with 22 birdies, seven bogeys and one double bogey, that coming at the eighth hole on Sunday.

Knous’ best Korn Ferry Tour finishes have been a pair of fourth places in 2018.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne native and former University of Colorado golfer Josh Creel placed a KFT-career-best-matching second on Sunday in Maine, checking in at 269 (71-62-72-64).

Other players with strong Colorado connections posting top-10s elsewhere in major tour golf:

— Former Air Force Academy golfer Kyle Westmoreland, who placed 68th in his first U.S. Open appearance earlier this month, tied for 10th on Saturday in the inaugural event of the Forme Tour, where many PGA Tour Canada regulars are competing this summer.

Westmoreland, a former Broomfield resident, went 68-65-72-73 for a 9-under 279 total at the L&J Golf Championship in Watkinsville, Ga. He ended up seven strokes behind champion Sam Saunders of Albuquerque, the 2019 winner of the CoBank Colorado Open.

— Former University of Denver golfer Espen Kofstad tied for sixth on Sunday in the European Challenge Tour’s Open de Bretagne in France. Kofstad finished four strokes back of winner Julien Brun after rebounding from a slow start, posting scores of 75-63-65-68. It was Kofstad’s second top-10 showing of the Challenge Tour’s 2021 season after placing third in May in the Range Servant Challenge.
