Colorado Golf Hall of Famer Brandt Jobe notches 26th career top-10 finish on PGA Tour Champions

By Gary Baines – 2/16/2020

It had been almost six months since Colorado Golf Hall of Famer Brandt Jobe had posted a top-10 finish on PGA Tour Champions — which is an eternity by his standards.

In fact, the last time the former Coloradan had placed in the top 10 in a Champions event, he won the Boeing Classic in late August for his second career victory on the senior circuit.

But Jobe ended his top-10 drought on Sunday by tying for ninth place at the Chubb Classic in Naples, Fla. Jobe went 66-69-68 for a 10-under-par 203 total, which left him seven strokes behind champion Scott Parel, who closed with a 63.

Jobe birdied two of the last four holes on Sunday and finished with 13 birdies for the week. He earned $37,067 for the performance.

The former Coloradan now has racked up 26 top-10s in his PGA Tour Champions career, which started in 2015.

Jobe lived in Colorado from 1970 to ’99 and won a Colorado Open, three CGA Match Plays, one CGA Amateur, one CGA Junior Amateur and one CGA Junior Match Play. He also finished second in The International at Castle Pines in 2005.

Elsewhere in major professional golf:

— Denver native Wyndham Clark chalked up his second top-20 finish in a row on the PGA Tour as he tied for 17th place at The Genesis Invitational Sunday in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

The 2010 CGA Amateur champion and two-time state high school tournament winner from Valor Christian carded rounds of 67-68-72-72 to tally a 5-under-par 279 total at Riviera Country Club. He ended up six strokes behind winner Adam Scott.

Clark had a very similar finish — 18th place — last week at the  AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Taylor Montgomery, son of former Colorado state high school champion and three-time Rocky Mountain Open winner Monte Montgomery, finished third — his Korn Ferry Tour career best — on Sunday at the LECOM Suncoast Classic in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. His rounds of 65-69-69-64 left him at 21-under-par 267, two back of winner Andrew Novak.
