Looking for No. 3

2-time champ Braga uses eagle to help take 18-hole lead at Colorado PGA Women’s Championship

By Gary Baines – 10/12/2020

Alexandra Braga of Denver Country Club has won two of the four Colorado PGA Women’s Championships played to date, and she’s put herself in position for a third title.

Braga, who won the event in 2016 and ’17, shot an even-par 72 on Monday at The Pinery Country Club in Parker to grab a one-stroke lead while competing in a field of eight contestants.

In an eventful round, the 36-year-old made an eagle, four birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey.

Another former champ, 2018 winner Tara Morris of the Country Club at Castle Pines, shares second place at 73 with Valley Country Club’s Jackie Cunningham. Morris and Cunningham each carded two birdies and three bogeys on Monday.

Sam Crawford from the Colorado PGA holds fourth place at 74.

The 36-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday.

The Colorado PGA Women’s Championship is open to all female PGA and LPGA members and associates in good standing who reside in — or work within — the Colorado PGA Section boundaries.
