For the first time in two years, Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado tournaments were held in April or May, with a total of more than 300 players teeing it up at three courses in Pueblo on Sunday.
Kids anywhere from 10 and under to 18 competed, with Walking Stick Golf Course, Pueblo Country Club and Elmwood Golf Course hosting events.
Winning the JGAC Tour events were Kyle Leydon of Commerce City (at Walking Stick), and Hadley Ashton of Erie, who won a back-nine scorecard playoff over Emma Bryant of Aurora (at Pueblo CC).
Leydon shot a 3-under-par 69 to win by two, picking up his first victory in a JGAC Tour tournament. On the JGAC Tour girls side, the University of Denver-bound Bryant, winner of two JGAC majors and a state high school title, and Ashton, a high-achieving 13-year-old, matched even-par 72s, with Ashton edging Bryant on the back nine, 37-38. Last year, Ashton finished third in her age group at the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship in Pinehurst, N.C.
