Aurora resident Emma Bryant is keeping her foot on the accelerator as she hits the final stretch of her college golf career at the University of Denver.
The senior, a graduate of Eaglecrest High School, finished tied for third individually out of 98 competitors on Wednesday at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Lahaina, Hawaii, marking her second top-3 showing in her last four college tournaments.
The winner of the 2018 5A state high school individual title and three Junior Golf Association of Colorado majors, Bryant posted rounds of 70-69-70 on Maui, good for a 7-under-par total, which left her four strokes behind Grace Lee of Gonzaga and Vivian Lu of Washington, who tied for first place in regulation.
Over the three days, Bryant recorded 16 birdies and nine bogeys.
In February, Bryant finished second at the FAU Paradise Invitational, matching her college-career-best showing. She also has a ninth-place performance this season, at the Ron Moore Invitational in Highlands Ranch in October. All told, in four spring-season tournaments so far this year, Bryant hasn’t placed worse than 20th.
Bryant, the sister of 2024 Inspirato Colorado Open champion and current DP World Tour card holder Davis Bryant, finished second at the CGA Women’s Stroke Play last summer.
As a team, DU placed a season-best fourth out of 17 schools in Maui. Next up for the Pioneers is their regular-season finale, the Boilermaker Spring Classic in West Lafayette, Ind., April 6-7.
