Esther Lee, Becca Huffer, Robyn Choi need to rally to make cut at LPGA Q-Series

By Gary Baines – 12/4/2021

The local contingent competing at the LPGA Q-Series needs strong showings on Sunday to keep hopes alive for earning 2022 LPGA Tour cards.

With the top 70 players and ties after Sunday’s fourth round in Mobile, Ala., surviving the halfway cut, former University of Colorado golfer Esther Lee stands in 88th place, and Becca Huffer of Monument and ex-Buff Robyn Choi in 104th.

Through Saturday’s third round, players at even-par 214 were tied for the 61st through 72nd positions. Those who make the cut will advance to the fifth through eighth rounds, set for Dec. 9-12 in Dothan, Ala.

Overall, the top 45 finishers and ties after 144 holes will earn 2022 LPGA Tour status.

Lee eagled her 16th hole on Saturday to shoot a 3-under-par 69, leaving her at 3-over-par 218. She carded an eagle, three birdies and two bogeys in round 3.

Meanwhile, Becca Huffer of Monument followed up rounds of 69-78 with a 75 on Saturday and has checked in at 7-over 222. She made three birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey in round 3.

Choi also stands at 222, in her case after a 71 on Saturday that included three birdies and two bogeys.

All three players with strong Colorado ties competing this week have had their LPGA Tour card for a season, with Lee playing the LPGA circuit in 2021.

In all, 110 players started the LPGA Q-Series.

Here are the scores for all the players with strong Colorado connections:
