Westminster’s Connor Jones finishes sixth at Agave Amateur; DU teammate Carson Griggs also notches top-10

Two University of Denver teammates posted top-10 finishes on Monday at the Agave Amateur in Indio, Calif.

Sophomore Connor Jones of Westminster tied for sixth place and junior Carson Griggs of Sand Springs, Okla., shared ninth place.

Jones, the 2019 Colorado Junior Match Play boys champion, went 64-69-71 for a 9-under-par 204 total, which left him eight strokes behind Baylor golfer and Dallas resident Mark Reppe, the champion (62-66-68).

Griggs checked in at 206 after rounds of 70-67-69.

The Agave Amateur is part of the Troon Saguaro Amateur Series conducted by University of Colorado men’s coach Roy Edwards and his University of Wyoming counterpart, Joe Jensen.
