Stellar scoring week leaves Jennifer Kupcho 1 out of lead as she seeks her first LPGA victory
By Gary Baines – 11/13/2021
In her LPGA Tour career to date, Colorado native Jennifer Kupcho has shot 66 or better 16 times, which is pretty amazing considering she’s only been playing professionally for 2 1/2 years.
But even more remarkable is that Kupcho has carded scores of 66 or better in all three rounds so far this week in the Pelican Women’s Championship in Belleair, Fla. And that includes a 64 on Friday, which marked her low round as an LPGA player.
Not surprisingly, the 2020 CoBank Colorado Women’s Open champ is in contention for the title after going 65-64-66, which leaves her at 15-under-par gong into Sunday’s final round. Seeking her first career victory on the LPGA circuit after three seconds and a third, Kupcho trails co-leaders Nelly Korda (63 Saturday) and Lexi Thompson (65).
Kupcho bogeyed No. 18 on Saturday, ending a streak of 45 holes of par or better. She’s played her last 46 holes in 16 under par.
Meanwhile, Korda will be looking for her fourth LPGA Tour victory of 2021.
