Jeff Hanson of Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott played his final nine holes in 4-under-par 32 to shoot a 5-under 67 and grab a two-stroke lead after Monday’s opening round of the Colorado Senior PGA Professional Championship at the University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch.

Patrick Reidy of The Club at Inverness, the 2018 Colorado PGA Professional champion, and Micah Rudosky of Conquistador are tied for second place at 69. Reidy carded seven birdies on Monday and Reidy four.

A couple of two-time Senior PGA Professional Champions share fourth place as 2019 winner Mike Northern of Colorado Springs and Doug Rohrbaugh of The Snowmass Club posted 70s, with Northern’s round being highlighted by an eagle on No. 11.

The final round will be contested on Tuesday. The top seven finishers will qualify for the national Senior PGA Professional Championship, set for Oct. 15-18 in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
