Andonian-Smith, MOORE And Matsumoto Qualify for U.S. Senior WOMEN’S Open

Qualifying for the 4th U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship was held Monday, July 25th at Lake Valley Golf Club in Boulder. Sherry Andonian-Smith of Centennial made it a perfect 4-for-4 by qualifying for all four U.S. Senior Women’s Opens that have been held since the tournament debuted in 2018. (Note: The tournament was not held in 2020 due to COVID.)  Andonian-Smith’s round of three-over par 73 earned her medalist honors in the 14-player field. 

The second qualifying spot went to Yukako Matsumoto of Japan. Matsumoto, who came to the U.S. to try to qualify, accomplished that goal with a round of 75.

Colorado Golf Hall of Famer, Janet Moore added yet another bullet to her impressive resume of golf accomplishments by qualifying for her third U.S. Women’s Open. Moore took the third and final qualifying spot with a round of 76 on the 5,870-yard par 70 Lake Valley layout.

Annika Sorenstam will defend her title in the 4th edition of the U.S. Senior Women’s Open will be played on August 25-28 at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.
