Colorado high school grads have claimed at least 9 individual titles in college golf so far this season, including 3 in NCAA Div. I tournaments

By Gary Baines – 3/17/2025

We’re past the Ides of March, meaning we’re about halfway through the spring portion of the college golf schedule, which will culminate in the national championship tournaments in May.

Having completed a two-month-long fall schedule, plus a month and a half in the spring so far, the cream has started rising to the proverbial top. So it seems like a good time to give props to golfers who grew up in Colorado and are putting together strong seasons as college golfers. Specifically, we’re talking about players who are ranked highly on a national basis and/or have posted one or more top-10 individual finishes in college tournaments this season.

For the record, Colorado high school graduates currently playing college golf have posted at least nine college individual titles this season. That includes NCAA Division I victories by Matthew Wilkinson of Centennial and CSU (won the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in September), Jeff Nelson of Commerce City and Winthrop (won the Dorado Beach Collegiate in February) and Eva Pett of Denver and the University of San Francisco (won the Classic at Boulder Creek in October).

In NCAA Division III, one golfer from Colorado has won two tournaments so far this season: Jessica Mason of Westminster, who plays for Trinity  in Texas.

Jacob Mason of Westminster, also playing for Trinity (and Jessica Mason’s older brother), likewise is among the Coloradans who has an individual victory this season.

Below are some of the Colorado high school products who are ranked highly nationally by Scoreboard Powered by Clippd and/or has top-10 individual finishes this season in college golf (Note: Scoreboard national individual ranking noted):

Jeff Nelson of Commerce City claimed a title in Puerto Rico last month.
