2020 CGA Women’s Player of Year — and former CU golfer — Kirsty Hodgkins advances to stage II of LPGA Q-school
By Gary Baines – 8/22/2021
Former University of Colorado golfer Kirsty Hodgkins, the CGA Women’s Player of the Year in 2020, was the lone competitor with strong Colorado connections to advance from stage I to stage II of LPGA Q-school on Sunday.
Hodgkins, winner of the 2020 CGA Women’s Match Play and the low amateur in the 2019 CoBank Colorado Women’s Open, finished 38th out of a field of 339 in stage I of Q-school, which concluded on Sunday in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The top 95 finishers and ties will advance to stage II.
The Australian went 67-75-73-71 for a 2-under-par 286 total, which left her 13 strokes behind medalist Gina Kim. Hodgkins made two eagles (both on par-4s), 12 birdies, eight bogeys and two triple bogeys over the course of four days.
Hodgkins, who still has her amateur status, will be in the field for stage II of Q-school, set for Oct. 21-24 in Venice, Fla. The final stage of Q-school, for those who qualify, is the Q-Series in Alabama Nov. 26-29 and Dec. 9-12.
