Former CGA Amateur champ Jertson and Cortez’s Rudosky survive 36-hole cut at national PGA Professional Championship

By Gary Baines – 4/26/2021

One player from the Colorado PGA contingent joined former Colorado School of Mines golfer Marty Jertson in making the 36-hole cut on Monday at the national PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Micah Rudosky from Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez, shot a 1-over-par 73 on Monday to leave himself at 1-over 144 and in 36th place halfway through the championship. The top 90 players and ties — out of the original field of 312 — advance to Tuesday’s third round. And the top 70 and ties after that will move on to Wednesday’s final 18.

Rudosky, who finished 11th in his first national Senior PGA Professional Championship last year, made two birdies and three bogeys on Monday.

Meanwhile, Jertson, the 2001 CGA Amateur champion, remained in the top 20 as he shares 19th place at 143. He carded a second-round 74, posting three birdies and five bogeys.

The top 20 players finishers on Wednesday will earn spots in the PGA Championship, set for May 20-23 at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, S.C. Jertson has played in the last three PGA Championships — and five overall, to go along with the 2020 U.S. Open.

Former PGA Tour veteran Omar Uresti holds the 36-hole lead at 8-under-par 135.
