Loveland’s Lauren Lehigh ties for eighth overall in prestigious Arizona Silver Belle Championship; CU’s Dylan McDermott wins Grapevine Amateur

Lauren Lehigh of Loveland, the 2021 CGA Women’s Match Play runner-up, posted a top-10 overall finish on Thursday in the Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championship, a prestigious end-of-the-year event in Sun City West.
The two-time girls state high school individual champion tied for eighth out of a field of 90. Lehigh closed with a 3-under-par 69 and ended up at 1-under 215 overall, nine strokes behind overall champion Leigh Chien of California, a 16-year-old.
Lehigh, a University of New Mexico golfer, made 13 birdies, 10 bogeys and a double bogey over the three days, with seven of the birdies coming on Thursday.
Meanwhile, 2021 JGAC Tour Championship girls winner Hadley Ashton of Erie placed fifth out of 16 players in the 14-and-under age division. Ashton, who placed 45th overall, posted scores of 75-76-73 for an 8-over 224 total, which left her eight back of age-division champ Brynn Kort of Nevada.
Emma Bryant of Aurora, a University of Denver golfer, finished 62nd overall at 228 (74-80-74) and 22nd in her age group (17-18).

CU’s Dylan McDermott Claims Title in Grapevine Amateur: University of Colorado freshman Dylan McDermott won the Grapevine Amateur on Thursday in Napa, Calif. The event is run, in part, by CU men’s head coach Roy Edwards.
McDermott, from Granite Bay, Calif., prevailed by one stroke after finishing with a 2-under-par 214 total in the 105-man event. McDermott went 68-75-71, ending up with 12 birdies and 10 bogeys. He led wire-to-wire.
